Backcountry Conditions

Feburary 2nd, 2012 The backcountry reports are coming in. There is backcountry skiing in the Hope Valley Area. Geoff Clarke has been on Red Lake Peak, Stevens Peak, Thompson Peak and the Carson Pass area. Here is the report: Thompson Peak-Not enough snow with many obstacles. Don't do it! Stevens Peak-Thin coverage but skiable. Find an area you like and make short laps. Red Lake Peak-Thin coverage but skiable. Find an area you like and make short laps. Carson Pass South side of highway 88-This has the best coverage, but is still thin. If you go to any of these areas be prepared for many rocks, logs, branches and dirt covered by a thin veil of snow. Take your rock skis and kneepads. Be prepared for breakable crust and firm snow. You may find some fun snow in between. Be smart out there.

Feburary 1st, 2012 We just recieved 2-3 inches of new snow overnight. This freshened up our trails to make for nice xc skiing. The snowshoeing is great. We can show you over 60 miles of trails for any level of snowshoer. Come visit us to rent some snowshoes and get a map of our trails.

January 23, 2012 Finally, the snow has arrived! We recieved about 18 inches at the Yurt and over 2 feet above 8000 feet. All our trails are open.
